Area leaders reflect on the Sept. 10 assassination of Christian conservative activist Charlie Kirk, calling for healing and boldness; his memorial service will be held Sept. 21.
Missouri State Representative Brian Seitz told Ozarks DynaCom’s News Department that the assassination has no place in the nation and highlighted Kirk’s impact. He was at the state capitol when he heard the news about Kirk. “I think it’s an American tragedy,” Seitz said. He continued by stating that Kirk “was so effective in reaching the youth of America.” Seitz added that Kirk was assassinated for using his freedom of speech. “It is something that’s un-American.”
The representative also voiced his support for Kirk’s family. “It never should’ve happened, and we’re continuing to pray for his wife and family.” The representative encouraged citizens not to allow the tragedy’s chilling effect to freeze their voices.
Seitz said that he has promoted boldness while speaking publicly since the Turning Point USA cofounder’s death. “I’ve encouraged individuals to be bold, to actually speak out with greater authority and not to foment hate and dissent,” he said. He tied current free speech concerns to another American tragedy.
